Waterford Castle in association with Solas CentreWe are pleased to have hosted the winners of our coloring competition, in conjunction with the Solas Centre South East Cancer Foundation.
The winner, Bella and her class from Newtown School, Waterford got to visit Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort & Hawkeye Falconry donated a bird of prey experience for the very excited young class.
Hawkeye Falconry then honored us by releasing a rehabilitated Kestrel back to the wild, to now reside at Waterford Castle's 310 acres.
This little bird was rehabilitated by John Duggan of Hawkeye Falconry who hand fed him and today watched him fly high. This is the third bird rehabilitated by John and the second to be successfully released back into nature.
Falconers all over Ireland are rehabilitating and releasing birds back into the wild as what better hands for these birds to be in, so this is a good news story of this little Kestrel being released and now residing on our 310 acre Island.
